Brain Death and Organ Donation
Brain death is irreversible loss of all brain function and the person is clinically and legally dead. Brain dead persons are those who are in the hospital’s intensive care unit on total artificial life support system. Through this mechanism the heart, lung, liver, kidney and pancreas can be kept alive for a few hours. This is when healthy organs can be surgically removed froma dead person and transplanted in the needy patients.

Myths that hinder cadaver transplantation
There are age limits on donation
